Amsterdam is fifth Business City in Europe

The position of Amsterdam as European Business City is threatened. This can be concluded from the European Cities Monitor 2003 by real estate advisor Cushman & Wakefield. For the monitor 501 European companies were questioned. The capital ended up in fifth place, same as 2002, but can feel Barcelona and Madrid coming closer. London was again voted best Business City in Europe, followed by Paris, Frankfurt and Brussels.

Amsterdam’s vulnerable position is the consequence of poor promotion and the fact that the city isn’t good in maintaining contact with the established companies. Despite this ten of the questioned companies still expect to open a subsidiary in Amsterdam over the next five years. The monitor shows that Amsterdam’s positive points are that it’s easy to reach and the many languages which are spoken there.
