Amstelland MDC sells the Maagjesbolwerk shopping centre in Zwolle

Amstelland MDC â€" property developer of urban centres, shopping centres, and residential and office buildings â€" has sold the new Maagjesbolwerk shopping area in the centre of Zwolle (The Netherlands) to Bakkenist & Emmens for approximately EUR 25 million.

Together with Fortis Real Estate Investments, Bakkenist & Emmens will develop and launch an investment product targeting private investors, which will include the Maagjesbolwerk shopping centre. Stable International advised Amstelland MDC with the letting and sale of the Maagjesbolwerk shopping centre.

Located at the head of the Melkmarkt in the centre of Zwolle, the Maagjesbolwerk shopping centre offers 6,500 m2 of retail space, 4,200 m2 of which has been leased by the MediaMarkt electronics chain. Local retailers have leased the remaining retail space. Negotiations regarding the letting of two remaining retail units are at an advanced stage. Consumers are greatly interested in the shopping centre complex, which includes 1,800 m2 of office space (leased by the Bemog development company), restaurant and catering facilities and an underground car park with room for approximately 480 cars. Q-Park has leased and will operate the car park. Maagjesbolwerk also comprises 66 apartments wich have been developed by Amstelland Ontwikkeling Wonen. These apartments are not included in the transaction.

The Maagjesbolwerk shopping centre is a striking addition to Zwolle’s city centre. The design of architect Hans Ruijssenaars of the ‘architects group’ harks back to its historical function as a fortification.
