AM Vastgoed and Zutphen Municipality sign development agreement for shopping center (NL)

AM Vastgoed and the municipality of Zutphen have signed a development agreement for the Leesten neighbourhood shopping center. The development programme comprises approximately 2,750 m² shops, 57 apartments, and 140 parking spaces at ground level.

The neighbourhood shopping center is planned in the Zutphen Vinex district of Leesten. The proposed location of the new center is at the hub of the neighbourhood on the perimeters of the new sector of the Leesten-Oost neighbourhood. The proposed function of the new center is to serve as the neighbourhood shopping center with a supermarket and various other types of shops to cater for the daily shopping needs of approximately 3,500 households.

The shopping center will be built on a visible location on the central access route to the neighbourhood and will be easily accessible to motor vehicle traffic. Adequate parking facilities will also be available in close proximity of the shops.

The plan is based on the concept of a pleasant square that borders on the water on the southern side. Most of the shops and homes face towards the square and have an attractive view of the water.

The concept was developed by T + T Design of Gouda, and the architect is INBO Architecten of Woudenberg. The shopping center will be completed by mid 2007.
