ALDI grows its presence in the Netherlands

Altera Vastgoed has unveiled the opening of the ALDI supermarket in the Bieshof community shopping centre. After Albert Heijn and Plus, ALDI is the third supermarket in the shopping center, which also has a strong fresh food section with ZuivelhoeveKeurslager, and a local fish shop and vegetable shop. The past year has seen store expansions in cooperation with the tenants Verhage and Plus and a number of tenants have relocated within the centre to facilitate the arrival of ALDI. The expansion of Verhage and Plus and the arrival of ALDI have further increased the food & convenience offering in the shopping centre and all available premises have been let.

Erwin Wessels, CIO of Altera, said: “The opening of the ALDI store marks the completion of an intensive asset management process. Over the recent period we have further strengthened the centre’s daily groceries offering and there are no longer any vacant premises. That makes Bieshof a prime example of a future-proof community shopping centre, which fits in perfectly with our strategy. We remain committed to the further growth of the supermarket share of our convenience portfolio.”
