€204 mln Resorts World Birmingham brings a touch of Vegas to the West Midlands (UK)

Europe’s first resort destination, Resorts World Birmingham, located on the NEC campus, has opened to the public after a two year development programme worth €204 mln (£150 mln).

 

Today the resort will come to life with a host of retailers including Next Outlet, Nike Factory Store and GAP Outlet opening their doors as well as a diverse range of other high street names in fashion, homewares and gifts. Over the coming weeks Resorts World Birmingham will gather momentum as more and more of the resort’s outlet shops, bars  restaurants and other facilities welcome guests.

 

Cineworld’s eleven screen complex that includes a purpose built IMAX auditorium and will be opening on 23 October, followed by the launch of the Genting International Casino and the state of the art conference and banqueting facility the VOX on 26 October.

 

In early November the 4-star Genting Hotel, the first to open in Europe, will ready the resort for overnight guests. The hotel will include a luxury medi-spa that will offer a wide range of treatments, pool, outside hot tub and salt cave.

 

Eighteen bars and restaurants will be available at Resorts World Birmingham including favourites such as TGI Friday’s and Pizza Express and new offers such as the Robata Bar and Grill specialising in Pan Asian cuisine, the New York influenced High Line Bar and Lounge and the World Bar which is located opposite the Genting Arena. 

 

Commenting on the opening, Genting UK president and chief operating officer Peter Brooks said: “We are very excited following a two year build programme that Resorts World Birmingham is coming to life. There will be much more to experience at Resorts World Birmingham as the weeks go by and the resort becomes fully operational. We have a full programme of exciting events between our opening day and the end of the year which will demonstrate the wide range of experiences available to our guests.
