European Investors has announced the expansion of our European real estate team in Amsterdam with the addition of two experienced investment professionals, Laurens te Beek and Joris Jansen. The additions complete its European team and will significantly enhance its property company coverage on the continent.
Mr. Jansen and Mr. te Beek will be working with Peter Nieuwland, Vice President and Portfolio Manager in Amsterdam, and Manish Bhargava, Analyst in New York. James Rehlaender, Managing Director and Portfolio Manager, leads the five person team from European Investorsâ headquarters in New York.
Mr. Jansen joins European Investors from Kempen Capital Management where he was a senior investment professional at one of the top performing property security funds in Europe. Mr. Jansen brings a significant level of knowledge and experience to the team, having spent the past five years focusing on the property sector. Mr. Jansen graduated from Amsterdam Academy, has an MS in Real Estate and recently completed his thesis on the expansion of the REIT concept in Europe.
Mr. te Beek was formerly with Euronext, operator of the Amsterdam Stock Exchange, where he was responsible for creating and managing a variety of indices, notably the European Public Real Estate Association (EPRA) Index. He will focus his efforts on enhancing the analytical techniques for the various property company portfolios. Mr. te Beek graduated from the University of Amsterdam with an economics degree and is experienced in futures and options trading.
In addition, Mr. Bhargava joined the team late last year to focus on the Asian markets, assisting Mr. Rehlaender in New York. He was previously with Ernst & Youngâs Structured Finance group, where he was responsible for due diligence and analysis for commercial mortgaged-backed securities. Mr. Bhargava grew up in Bombay and graduated with high honors from St. Xavierâs College in India and received a scholarship from Oklahoma State to pursue his Masters in Management and Accounting Information Systems.
