Zlote Tarasy celebrates official opening (PL)

ING Real Estate has announced that the Zlote Tarasy retail center in Central Warsaw was officially opened yesterday, February 7, 2006. The iconic, award-winning Zlote Tarasy complex, which means 'Golden Terraces' in English, is a mixed-used project developed by ING Real Estate in association with the City of Warsaw and designed by the Jerde Partnership. Zlote Tarasy has been designed as a blend of urban public space and architecture that will reconnect and revitalise Warsaw's fragmented urban fabric.

In his opening ceremony speech George Jautze, Chairman of ING Real Estate, The Hague, said: "Firstly, we wanted fascinating architecture. Warsaw is a major European capital but landmarks are few. The city deserved something spectacular. Secondly, the city center needed a large scale mixed-use center. Over 170,000 people pass by here everyday. Thirdly, we wanted to create a center with a pleasant atmosphere, spectacular but not intimidating. Zlote Tarasy should make people feel good and want to stay and enjoy the experience. It had to be the choice destination for shopping and meeting friends over a drink or dinner, and going to a movie. I believe the Jerde Partnership have done a magnificent job in combining all of these elements."

Zlote Tarasy, located next to the central train station in the heart of Warsaw, consists of approximately 63,500 m² of retail and leisure space, which has been fully let. The retail center features over 200 stores and service units. The anchor tenants include Marks & Spencer, Mexx, Next, Zara, Empik, Intersport, Next, H&M, Saturn, Albert, Van Graaf, Royal Collection, New Yorker, Almi Décor, Hard Rock Café, Smyk and Hugo Boss. Some 4,500 m² of the lettable floor space houses food and beverage outlets making this the largest concentration of restaurants, cafés and bars in the City of Warsaw. Zlote Tarasy offers 1,600 underground parking places. One million people live within 20 minutes of the Zlote Tarasy complex, which covers a total area of 225,000 m². An eight-screen cinema, a fitness club and a dance school are scheduled to open in the centre in the coming months as well as 45,000 m² of lettable office space.
