Workspace Group secures planning permission for Faircharm redevelopment (UK)

Workspace Group PLC, London's leading provider of space to new and growing companies, is pleased to announce that it has secured planning permission for a development of 148 apartments and a new 52,000 ft² (approx. 4,830 m²) Business Center for creative industries at its Faircharm estate, Creekside, Deptford, SE8. Permission will enable Workspace to create jobs and provide new business space, homes and community facilities.

Workspace plans to redevelop two factory buildings which will provide 46,400 ft² (approx. 4,310 m²) of space tailored to the needs of small businesses with a particular focus on creative industries. When completed, the scheme will also include a further 5,600 ft² of newly built studio space, 148 new residential units as well as creating 350 jobs on site.

As part of the redevelopment, Workspace will create a new public, open space which enables the local community access to Deptford Creek. The company has made a significant financial contribution to support the business community, improve health facilities, education, employment, housing, public open space and transport, and a Cross Rail contribution.

Jamie Hopkins, Chief Executive Officer of Workspace commented: "We are delighted to have secured approval for the Faircharm project. This is part of our wider redevelopment programme to enhance both core operational income and capital values by repositioning properties. The Faircharm development will provide tailored space to the needs of small creative businesses, a capability which is at the heart of Workspace's key strengths."
