Wilma Project Development acquires Antwerp Tower (BE)

Wilma Project Development, the urban development department of the Matexi Group, has purchased the Antwerp Tower at de Keyserlei in Antwerp. The Antwerp Tower is, at 87 meters, the third highest building and one of the largest office towers (24.000 m²) in Antwerp.

A redevelopment to a residential tower with apartments is considered as one of the possibilities in the long term.

The tower is located in a prime location on the Frankrijklei, close to the Meir (which is the main shopping street) and at 300 meters from the Antwerp Central Station.

Wilma says that it will, in a first phase, continue managing the building. "In time, some refurbishment works will be carried out to increase the attractiveness of the building," it says in a statement.

However, Wilma has developed a solid reputation as a redeveloper of large projects. In Antwerp, they converted the Military Hospital to ''t Groen kwartier', a new residential area. Hence, a full redevelopment is the most likely outcome for this project.

The seller is a Dutch family which was advised by Jones Lang LaSalle.
