Westdeutsche ImmobilienBank AG opens a new office in Berlin (DE)

Westdeutsche ImmobilienBank AG (WIB) continues to develop its sales network with a new office opening in Berlin in October 2007.

"The bank is expanding in Germany and overseas, because being close to our customers is the reason for our success. This principle also applies to our business activity in Germany. From Berlin we will support our customers in Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Saxonia, Saxonia-Anhalt and Thuringia. As a capital city in the centre of Europe, Berlin is also a hub for the activities of national and international investors" said Claus-Jürgen Cohausz, a member of WIB's Managing Board.

Thomas Brand (43) will lead the office in Berlin. Having spent 10 years in the Commercial Real Estate Financing division of Commerzbank AG, he moved to the Real Estate Structured Finance division of Aareal Bank AG in 2002. Thomas Brand then headed up the Berlin office of Aareal Bank from February 2005 to August 2006, following which he was in charge of Wachovia Bank N.A.'s Berlin branch.

Including the new office, WIB will be represented in six German cities: Berlin, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Mainz, Münster and Munich. In addition to its national offices, the bank has a branch in London and representative offices in Madrid, New York, Paris, Prague and Warsaw. WIB also expects to open an office in Tokyo towards the end of 2007.

Headquartered in Mainz, WIB is a wholly-owned subsidiary of WestLB AG and the centre of competence for the Group's real estate financing and transactions.
