Warimpex and Vienna International finalize entry onto Romanian market (RO/AT)

Warimpex Finanz- und Beteiligungs AG has completed its entry onto the Romanian market, closing the acquisition of the Sky Gate hotel in Bucharest effective 8 August 2007. Warimpex now owns 99.98% of Sky Gate's holding and operating company and will begin with the redevelopment of the property. Vienna International Hotelmanagement AG will take over the hotel's management and operations.

The Sky Gate hotel has acquired a good reputation over the course of the years and the hotel will continue to be managed by the same reliable and experienced management team. The expansion and redevelopment of the hotel, which is set to begin immediately, will help to improve the current level of performance. In a first step, 50 additional rooms will be created through the conversion of office space, which will be followed by the creation of additional conference space as well as measures to improve overall quality.

Now under the management of Vienna International Hotelmanagement AG, the four-star Golden Tulip Sky Gate, opened in 2001, will be redeveloped and renamed angelo Airporthotel. The successful cooperation with Golden Tulip is to be continued. Currently, the hotel features 108 rooms and six conference rooms equipped with modern technology such as air conditioning, wireless internet and cable TV. The hotel's proximity to Henri Coandã International Airport, only 300 meters from the hotel, and the good transport links to Bucharest city center have contributed to the hotel's past focus on business travellers and seminar guests. "For us, it is important to maintain the hotel's current positioning, to continue to welcome regular clients and guests and to win more international companies as new clients. The redevelopment and renaming, coupled with our internationally recognised services, should contribute to meeting these goals," says Rudolf Tucek, CEO of Vienna International Hotelmanagement AG.

Following redevelopment works, the angelo Airporthotel Bucharest will be the equal of its predecessor project in Prague. In the 14 months since opening in June 2006, the 168-room angelo Hotel in Prague has become a point of attraction for fans of modern design and architecture. The hotel is an exceptional example of incomparable design with its use of select materials, a touch of Far East and a colour concept combining black, coral red, yellow and white. The design concept is a constant theme on all seven floors of the hotel. Three more angelo Hotels will open in 2008, in Munich/Germany, Katowice/Poland, and Pilsen/Czech Republic. The angelo Hotel Munich will feature 148 rooms, while its sister hotels in Katowice and Pilsen will boast 145 and 144 rooms, respectively.
