Volker Wessels Vastgoed and the municipality of Rotterdam have reached an agreement of intent for the development of a European Chinese Center on Katendrecht (Rotterdam). At least 68,000 m² of commercial functions, housing and cultural facilities will be developed here.
The initiative for the European Chinese Center (ECC) was taken by a group of Rotterdam/Chinese businessmen united in the Dutch Chinese Foundation. The ECC will focus on two target groups: the Chinese companies already established in the Netherlands and new entrepreneurs from China. Through front offices and showrooms, the entrepreneurs can establish new trade flows between the Netherlands and China.
The concept for the ECC will be based on a maximum functional flexibility, which should allow the exchanging of functions such as company space, public space and housing to be possible in the future.
