Two ICSC nominations for AM projects in Spain and Germany (NL)

The shopping centres Espacio León in León, Spain, and Schlössle-Galerie in Pforzheim, Germany have both been nominated for the prestigious ICSC Award presented each year to the best shopping centres in Europe. Acknowledged to be the most prestigious award within the industry, the award winners will be announced at the ICSC Europe Conference from 26-28 April 2006 in Copenhagen.

Every year, the International Council of Shopping Centres Europe (ICSC Europe) presents awards to the best new shopping centres in Europe. Previous winning shopping centres have led the way in showing how to integrate good design, planning, merchandising, sales results and all other areas of shopping centre management, including customer approval. The finalists announced are recognized as to particularly set an example to the industry as a whole. Fourteen countries were represented in this year’s ICSC Shopping Centre Awards with 26 entrants.

Schlössle-Galerie, Pforzheim, Germany
With 20.000-m² retail area this shopping centre was nominated in the category New Small Centres. It is a closed mall project in the city centre with 43 shops over 3 levels. A very special feature is the public roof garden, which covers the sloped roof and offers a children’s play area, walkways and a panoramic view over the hills of Pforzheim into the Schwarzwald. AM Development Germany GmbH developed Schlössle-Galerie. Owner is German WestInvest Gesellschaft für Investmentfonds mbH.

Espacio León, León, Spain
The 36.000-m² enclosed shopping centre was nominated in the category New Medium Centres. It is the first leisure and shopping centre in the city, offering 130 units over 3 levels, including a food court and a multiscreen Cinebox cinema. It is a spectacular building with an outstanding and exclusive visual and functional concept. AM Multi Development Corporation Spain SA developed Espacio León. Owner is German Commerz Grundbesitz Investment Gesellschaft mbH.

T+T Design from Gouda designed the concept for both projects.
