Triodos is the world's most sustainable bank (NL)

Triodos Bank has been chosen the world's most sustainable bank during the annual International Sustainable Banking Conference, that took place in London last week. The FT Sustainable Banking Awards are acknowledged by an international jury and are an initiative of the Financial Times and IFC, which is a subsidiary of the World Bank.

The jury emphasized the importance of the award in times of a financial crisis. With its longlasting experience in socially responsible and sustainable banking Triodos Bank actively contributes to the current need for a renewal in the financial sector.

From the 165 entries from 42 countries the jury initially selected five nominees. Other nominees were Deutsche Bank (Germany), Grupo Santader (Brazil), Industrial Bank (China) and Standard Chartered (United Kingdom).

Peter Blom, Chairman of the Board of Triodos Bank, said: "This prestigious award underlines the increasing importance of sustainable banking. It is an international acknowledgement for our innovative work and our strong, sustainable banking system."
