Three great architects redesign the Verona skyline (IT)

CIS Compagnia Investimenti e Sviluppo (Investment and Development Company) of Verona presented at MIPIM three major urban renewal projects set to change the face of South Verona, the southern gateway to Europe, each respectively designed by an architect of international renown: Mario Bellini, Massimiliano Fuksas and Richard Rogers.

Mario Bellini has designed the renewal project for the area that flanks the western side of the Verona Trade Fair once known as Foro Borario now renamed Verona Forum. In addition to creating a functional office park and a hotel, the design reserves two-thirds of the available space half for a public park and half for parking lots.

Massimiliano Fuksass project calls for the creation of a theme park exalting Italian dining called Food and Wine City. Open year-round, the park will satisfy an increasingly sophisticated international publics curiosity about Italian food. It will cover an area of 164,000 m2 in an ideal location near two major highways and only 5 km from Verona centre.

Richard Rogers, from his perspective of creating people-friendly architecture, has developed a project to renovate the zone formerly known as Officine Adige, a 100,700 m2 area near the Verona Sud highway exit. The plan proposes a 150m skyscraper surrounded by a vast green area, with spaces for offices, shops, housing, a hotel as well as a church.
