Thor Equities launches dedicated logistics division

Thor Equities has announced the launch of ThorLogis, a division specializing in the logistics sector. The announcement of the division comes in conjunction with the acquisition of industrial property in The Netherlands, a core location for green fulfilment and logistics in Europe, as well as the appointment of Managing Director of Europe and Head of Logistics Acquisitions, David Hunt-Cuadrado.

Trailing Thor Equities’ announcement to dive deeper into the Life Sciences sector, the company continues to diversify with the launch of ThorLogis, a global platform focused exclusively on the logistics asset class. While Thor is well versed in logistics and industrial real estate in the US, having recently announced plans to forgo an office campus in favour of a last-mile warehouse in Brooklyn, the demand has accelerated abroad, and the division has closed on their first acquisition in The Netherlands: Meer & Duin 1. Located South of Amsterdam in Lisse, in the heart of the Dutch Flower Region, the warehouse property totals 400,000m² and is fittingly occupied by Bakker.com, a leading global flower distributor. Situated only 30km from Amsterdam’s City Center and within 15 minutes of Schiphol Airport, the asset is an optimal first acquisition in one of Europe’s premier gateway cities.

Spearheading this new division is newly appointed Managing Director of Europe and Head of Logistics Acquisitions, David Hunt-Cuadrado. A consummate professional, David was previously a European Director with The Blackstone Group’s European logistics platform, Logicor. He brings extensive experience and expertise to Thor, and together with newly appointed Vice President of Acquisitions, Sam Brassington, the pair is responsible for overseeing the company’s global logistics acquisitions and developments.

Thor has a robust retail, office, and hospitality portfolio, however, Thor’s second transaction involved a 388,000ft² ground-up logistics development in Dayton, New Jersey,” said Chairman and CEO, Joseph Sitt. “We are thrilled the time has come to return to our roots in the dynamic logistics sector. We recognize the vast appetite retailers have for industrial space and have decided the time is right to launch ThorLogis, a division designed to focus exclusively on logistics. Newly appointed Managing Director, David Hunt-Cuadrado will lead ThorLogis, and with his extensive expertise we look forward to offering new opportunities for our investors and creating a best-in-class business model.”

“Logistics benefits from the same fundamentals associated with traditional retail, a sector Thor is deeply steeped in,” said Managing Director and of Head of Logistics Acquisitions, David Hunt-Cuadrado. “Widely recognized as an expert across all asset classes, Joe and the Thor team possess a unique ability to anticipate consumer needs and provide opportunities for investors which is essential in building a successful logistics platform. With a pipeline of several assets in strategic logistics hubs across Europe, I look forward to expanding Thor’s presence overseas and creating a bespoke logistics portfolio in the form of ThorLogis.”
