The Ministry of Environment and Urban Planning approves Fikirtepe urban transformation plans

According to the Turkish press, the Ministry of Environment and Urban Planning has approved plans for the transformation of Fikirtepe, an area on the Asian side of Istanbul within the borders of the Kadiıköy region.


The area that will be transformed is delimited by the D-100 highway, the campus of Marmara University, Merdivenköy and Kurbağalıdere. According to the Ministry, a large number of homes, roads and commercial areas are included in the project. The number of homes determined by the project studies amounts to 6,341, out of which only 3.28% are in good condition, in an area that is considered risky within the scope of the legislation numbered 6306 on the Transformation of Areas which are subject to the Risk of Disaster.


The Ministry also mentions that green areas and transport links will be established in the framework of the urban regeneration project, which is expected to start soon.
