Tenant signings flock to phase one of Southgate (UK)

Retailers continue to flock to SouthGate, the new retail and leisure scheme that represents a significant redevelopment of the southern end of Bath and which is a joint venture between Multi Development and Aviva Investors.

Last week the letting team announced six new names for phase one of the scheme, which opens on 4th November this year. This week three other retailers – Calvin Klein, Republic and Azendi – have confirmed their commitment to SouthGate.

They now join the other phase one retailers which are: Sainsbury's Local, New Look, Boots, H&M, Quiksilver, Animal, Kurt Geiger, Cult, tReds, and All Saints.

Stuart Harris, UK Leasing Director for Multi Development, commented: "We have held our nerve and the combination of improved market conditions, the lure of the Christmas trading period and the attraction of Bath as a retail city has resulted in a strong wave of enquiries over recent weeks. We have always been committed to allowing only the right calibre of retailer into SouthGate and this policy is paying off. There is a definite change in mood in the market and a lot more retailers are coming forward. They realise the worst is over and they are planning ahead and expansion in the future. We have an attractive offering at SouthGate and we are looking at deals on an individual basis."
