Swiss Life buys five more care facilities from HOCHTIEF Projektentwicklung (DE)

HOCHTIEF Projektentwicklung has sold five care facilities for a total of 309 seniors requiring care in Lahnau, Schwalbach, Heusweiler, Burladingen and Altenmünster to the life assurer Swiss Life. It was agreed that no details of the purchase price would be disclosed.

The properties, each designed for up to 78 residents, are being operated on the community living concept by the senior service provider BeneVit. In 2009 Swiss Life had already acquired seven properties with a total of 528 residential and care places in two separate packages. The first seven facilities out of the cooperation with BeneVit and in partnership with Swiss Life are already being successfully operated.

Care facilities based on the BeneVit community living concept are divided into four to six apartments with mainly single, and some double rooms, for twelve to 15 residents each. All apartments are fitted with a kitchen, a dining and a living area. The residents are assisted on a day-to-day basis by care staff who deal with all housework, including the preparation of meals.

Depending on their abilities, residents can also join in these tasks. In-house, qualified professionals provide all necessary care up to the highest level, directly in the apartments.

"The community living concept preserves and promotes the independence and personal responsibility of people needing care," explains Claudia Rehschuh, Head of the Real Estate department at Swiss Life Asset Management.

She says that this makes BeneVit care homes popular with the residents and contributes to their recognition in the professional world.

"In addition, as an investor, we can play a part in the development of these facilities and make a worthwhile contribution to society," Rehschuh adds.
