Standard Life Investments lifts 2 Accolades at UK Pensions Awards 2007 (UK)

Standard Life Investments has announced that it has won the title of 'Investment Manager of the Year' and 'Specialist Manager of the Year (UK Equities)' at the UK Pension Awards 2007 held in London earlier this week.

Drawn from a shortlist of candidates*, SLI was selected for each award by a panel of industry experts** based on innovation, communication, performance and service standards.

Standard Life Investments was also short-listed in the'Fixed Interest Manager of the Year', 'Multi-Asset Manager of the Year', 'Pooled Manager of the Year' and 'Property manager of the Year' categories. Standard Life Investments also won DC Provider of the Year, in recognition of the innovation and highest level of service provided to corporate pension clients.

George Walker, Head of Institutional Business Development, SLI, said, "To win two awards and be short listed in another four categories is recognition of the depth and strength of talent, skills and investment performance across Standard Life Investments. A combination of strong performance and siginifcant business growth during 2006 saw SLI being increasingly recognised as an investment mananger that can compete with the very best across all the main asset classes."

"In relation to our win of the 'Specialist of the Tear' award, 2006 was a very strong year for opur UK Equity capability. In terms of performance, we have continued to build up a record of excellence in UK equity investment across the full range of performance strategies. This translated into strong growth in new mandates - winning 29 of the 38 beauty parades we were invited to in 2006. In total we won 10 segregated mandates and 19 pooled mandates, which amounted to £1.6 billion."

"Standard Life Investments' UK Equity Unconstrainted Pooled Pension Fund came first out of 118 funds for the last quarter of 2006, generating a return of 15.1%. Launched in September 2005, it has returned 34.9% for the twelve months of 2006. The £1.3bn UK Equity Select Fund has been top quartile over 12 months and top deile over three and five years."
