Slough Estates plc - Appointment of Chief Executive

Slough Estates plc announces that its Chief Executive Mr. Derek Wilson, after 16 years’ service, has decided to retire towards the end of the year and that he will be replaced by Mr. Ian Coull from January 2003.

Derek Wilson, who is aged 58, joined Slough Estates in 1986 as Finance Director. In 1991 he was appointed a managing director with particular responsibility for Finance, Slough Heat and Power and the Group’s North American activities. In 1996 he was appointed Chief Executive.

Ian Coull, who is 52, is a chartered surveyor. He joins from J. Sainsbury plc where he has been a Board Director since 1988 with responsibility for Group Property and Environmental Affairs. He has also had responsibility for some of the group’s subsidiary operations.

Commenting on this appointment, the Chairman of Slough Estates, Sir Nigel Mobbs said:-

“I welcome the appointment of Ian Coull as Chief Executive which will ensure a smooth succession following Derek Wilson’s retirement. Ian has been responsible for the development and management of a large property portfolio and is well regarded in the industry. I am sure that he will bring a new outlook and experience to the strong Slough management team.

Derek Wilson has, during his service within the Group, played a major part in driving forward the growth and success of the business. I am very grateful to Derek for his valuable contribution and we all wish him a long and healthy retirement.”
