Skopje City Mall is due to open in September.

Balfin MK only announced the key anchor tenants rather than the complete tenant line up for September and promised in the near future there would be more surprises.

Balfin MK proudly announced the entrance into Macedonia of the world's second largest chain of Supermarkets the International French retailer 'Carrefour' who have signed an agreement to lease to be the anchor hypermarket with a store of 4,650 m². The deal which was completed in July last year had to be kept secret due to a confidentiality clause in the agreement to lease.

The much-awaited identity of the hypermarket tenant has been welcomed by the people of Skopje. The unique position and strength of Skopje City Mall and its emerging importance as a Regional Shopping Center convinced Carrefour to begin their expansion into the ex-Yugoslavian Republics area with a new strategic store in Skopje, Macedonia. With the opening of Carrefour in Skopje City Mall, Carrefour will have over 9,500 stores in 33 countries.

At the same time Balfin also announced that Inditex the international Spanish Group, one of the world's largest fashion retailers, have signed agreements for leases for five of its leading brands, taking a total of 4,350 m² for Zara, Stradivarius, Massimo Dutti, Paul and Bear, and Bershka. The Zara unit will be on two floors and at 2,190 m² will be the largest Zara store in the Balkans. The other four brands also have their optimum largest unit sizes as operated all over the world.

Inditex is the proven leader in fashion retailer with a unique marketing business model started in 1975, today the group has over 5,000 shops in five continents. With Inditex taking occupation in Skopje City Mall, Macedonia becomes the 80th country to have the complete brands of the Group a great achievement for Skopje City Mall.

The new shopping center will address the significant unfulfilled demand for modern retail space for the Macedonian consumer providing the latest trends with affordable prices. This will no doubt also reduce the amount of leakage of shoppers to other countries and will provoke the opposite with an influx of revenue from outside of Macedonia.

To complete the trio announcement of anchor tenants Balfin named their chosen Cinema operator as Cineplexx, a successful Austrian based company operating since 1951. In 1993 Cineplex became a wholly owned subsidiary of the famous Constantine Film-Holding GmbH, an Austrian business owned by the Langhammer family.

Today Cineplexx has 230 cinemas with more than 45,000 seats. Cineplexx will bring a nine-screen state of the art Real 3D cinema experience to Skopje operating with the latest digital equipment delivering to the people of Skopje a true Real 3d experience. Cineplexx plan to not only show movies but to bring Sport and Music events to the big screen in Real 3D.
