SKIM rents self-service department store as pilot project in Nuremberg-Thon (DE)

The Frankfurt company SKIM Schüler Knedel Immobilien-management GmbH, specializing in the management of commercial properties and closed-end real estate funds, concluded a new lease for the self-service department store, Wilhelmshavener Straße in Nuremberg-Thon.

The self-service department store was previously operated by Marktkauf, on behalf of the fund company DIV - Deutsche Immobilienfonds-Verwaltungs-KG Anlagefonds Nürnberg 1 with EDEKA Unternehmensgruppe Nordbayern-Sachsen-Thüringen. The conclusion of the lease was made on behalf of the fund company in the scope of a long-term property management relationship.

In 2008 EDEKA Unternehmensgruppe Nordbayern-Sachsen-Thüringen took over 28 Marktkauf stores in their sales area. Six of the stores are situated in the Nuremberg area. The property in Wilhelmshavener Straße is the first property which will be rebuilt by EDEKA Nordbayern-Sachsen-Thüringen. A completely new pioneering concept will be developed on more than 10,000 m² usable floor area.

The range of goods of the self-service department store, which includes more than 45,000 goods, will be completed by the settlement of service providers and retailers as well as by a comprehensive range of restaurants. For this purpose EDEKA will invest a two-digit million amount. Construction commencement will be in early 2009, the reopening of the store is scheduled for autumn 2009. Other locations will follow.
