Skanska to focus on green office projects in Central Europe (CEE)

Skanska is enhancing its focus on developing green office properties in Prague and Ostrava in the Czech Republic. To better meet the increasing demand for LEED-certified green offices Skanska's strategy is to divest its logistics land in R6 Logistics Park located in Jenec, in western part of Prague, close to the Ruzyne Airport and R6 motorway.

R6 Logistics Park consists of around 400,000 m² of land for logistic development, of which 75,000 m² has been sold. The buyer is Austrian-based logistics company GW Immobilien GmbH from Gebrüder Weiss group.

"We have a unique opportunity to offer green, modern and flexible offices. We have a very strong product that is increasingly attractive for both tenants and investors. Therefore we put all our efforts in this and we transfer the further development of the part of R6 Logistics Park to Gebrüder Weiss," says Britta Cesar, Managing Director of Skanska Property Czech Republic.

Gebrüder Weiss Branch Manager Karel Sindelar adds: "Gebrüder Weiss focuses on the economic future in the Czech Republic. Our core values are Independence, Service Excellence, Commitment and Sustainability. This purchase is another step towards expansion in the Czech Republic. Due to the close railway, motorway and airport connections, the land's location offers excellent conditions for meeting customer demands. In its final form, the total area is planned to have 35,000 m². Initially, a 15,000-m² high-tech logistics center is planned for 2011. The planning and construction phase will be started immediately. Gebrüder Weiss provides me and my team with the best possibilities for the benefit of our customers."

Skanska's office project City Green Court is currently being developed in Prague's established business district, Pankrác. It will comprise 16,000 m² of leasable space and is expected to be ready for occupancy during the first quarter of 2012. City Green Court is being designed to meet the requirements for certification according to the international environmental certification system LEED.
