Royal Bam NBM reinforces its position in timber-framed home

Royal BAM NBM nv, Bunnik, (construction, property development, infrastructure and electrical and mechanical contracting) is in negotiations concerning the acquisition by its subsidiary, Fort Bouw bv, of Avabouw bv, Nijverdal. There are now good grounds to expect that agreement can be reached.

Avabouw bv develops and builds timber-framed houses. Its annual turnover is some EUR 13 million and it employs about 80 people. The private-customer segment of the residential construction market is growing. There is high demand in this segment of the market for the environmentally-friendly timber-frame product. The intended acquisition of Avabouw by Fort Bouw will double the timber-frame activities of Royal BAM NBM and thus achieve desirable economies of scale.

The acquisition will be paid for in cash and contribute immediately to Royal BAM NBM nvÂ's results.

The employees and trade unions concerned have been notified today. The opinions of the relevant works councils will be requested.
