Refurbished Espoontori shopping center opens (FI)

Citycon Oyj opened the refurbished Espoontori shopping centre in Espoo on Thursday November 4. During this project, Espoontori's premises of 10,400 m² and its parking facilities have undergone a major renovation.

So far, Citycon has invested €20.5 million in the project. In addition, the original investment decision includes additionally approximately €5.3 million of future costs related to the planned extension of the shopping center.

Espoontori shopping center is situated in Espoo Center, the city's administrative hub right next to the railway station. In addition, a significant number of new apartments are being built in its immediate vicinity. The refurbishment of Espoontori will substantially improve its commercial competitiveness, while boosting the attractiveness of the whole of Espoo Center.

Various new services
On opening day, the following stores and services opened their doors in Espoontori: general merchandise store Tarjoustalo, Nordea Bank, cleaning and laundry services Clean Kalle, game store VPD-Pelikauppa, nail salon Vany's Nails and gemstone gallery Jalokivigalleria. Furthermore, Sampo Bank will move into the new premises.

The following companies had already moved into the fully refurbished premises: grocery store K-market Kulinaari, fast-food chaim Hesburger, physiotherapists Espoon Keskuksen Fysioterapia and hairdressers Salon Pepe Åhman. Moreover, the following stores and services have recently started doing business from Espoontori: bakery´s shop Marian Konditoria, bridal and formal wear store Zazabella, health store Villikaura, restaurant Britannia and grocery store Estfood.

Modernization work will continue on the entrances facing the railway station. The totally refurbished Espoontori will open its door in February 2011. Citycon is planning to expand the now refurbished shopping center in the future.
