Record entries for MIPIM Awards 2013

The 2013 edition of the MIPIM Awards has attracted a record number of entries with 175 projects from 46 countries competing. Following jury deliberations in Paris on January 29, the United Kingdom has seven projects competing as finalists, well followed by Germany, Korea and Denmark which each have three projects in the final voting stage.
Asian projects were particularly strong in the 'Best Shopping Centre' category, where three of the four finalists are from Singapore, South Korea and Japan.
"Due to the volume and quality of the projects that have entered, we decided to select four finalists per category this year instead of three. What is particularly striking is the international breadth of the entries, with projects from 18 countries making it past the first round of voting," commented MIPIM Director Filippo Rean. As part of the Turkey Country of Honor program in 2013, the jury also selected four entries to compete in the additional 'Best Turkish Project' category.
The jury of real estate professionals is headed for the third year by Michael Strong, Chairman and CEO-EMEA of CBRE. MIPIM Awards winners will be chosen in Cannes by a combination of the MIPIM delegates and the international jury, each group representing 50% of the final vote.
In addition, and for the second time, the Special Peoples' Prize rewards the development that wins the most votes online before MIPIM opens. The public can vote for this category as of 11 February on the MIPIM site and on the official event Facebook page, and if they wish they can try and win accreditation for MIPIM 2014 by a draw, as well as other prizes.
