Property Professionals continue to see salaries rise

Property professionals working in the Asia Pacific region saw average salaries rise throughout 2008, albeit at a slower pace, despite the worsening global financial crisis, according to the RICS and Macdonald & Co Asia Pacific Salary & Benefits Survey.

Average salaries grew at 10.1% in 2008 compared with 9% in 2007 however this is mainly due to large increases experienced in the Chinese market, with Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, and New Zealand all experiencing reduced salary growth.

Property professionals in Australia and New Zealand saw the smallest rise in salary with growth of 6.9% and 5.3% respectively, whilst those in China saw the largest salary increase this year with salaries rising by 16.2%.
