Project developers complain about budget cuts

Under the new government plans inner cities will impoverish further, according to Neprom, Dutch Association of Project Developers. The Ministry of Housing, Spatial Planning and the Environment has cut EUR 70 mln from the buget of inner city renovations.

This is a bad idea, as the renovation projects are already behind schedule, according to Neprom in its first reaction to the governmentÂ's new budget.

As recently as April the association already protested against the delay in renovating post-war districts in larger cities. Research showed that only 30 percent of the projects were on schedule. Only more government funds will help in speeding up the process. These budget cuts will only have detrimental effects on new projects.
