Problems for new British architectural icons (UK)

During the last weeks three spectacular British plans have been withdrawn. All projects had already gotten surnames form the public and therefore even before building started, already became architectural icons of today: ‘The Cloud’ in Liverpool by architect Will Alsop, ‘The Spiral’ in London by Daniel Libeskind and ‘The Golden Banana’ by Rafeal Viñoly in Colchester.

Financiers appear to be having more and more problems with the promising images, because the Alsop building was becoming more and more expensive in the estimates
