Parliament wants government to reconsider abolishment deduction fiscal depreciation commercial real

Government´s coalition parties urge State Secretary Steven van Eijck of the Ministry of Finance to withdraw his plans to abolish the fiscal deduction of depreciation on commercial real estate.

The cost would amount to EUR 70 mln, which could be covered by a slight increase in electricity tax and an increase in liquor tax, noticeably for drinks such as the popular breezer drinks.

Tomorrow parliament and the government willl have to take a decision. The new plans should be effective on January 1, 2003. Investors in commercial real estate should only be allowed minimal fiscal deductions of depreciation of commercial real estate from their taxable profits.
