P3 to double existing warehouse space at PointPark Žilina (SK)

PointPark Properties (P3),  in cooperation with Optima Consulting, has started construction of a 6,000 m² warehouse and distribution facility at its PointPark Žilina logistics park. The expansion will double the existing warehousing area at the park. Some 2,400 m² of the new space has been pre-‐let to international logistics company, Geis Group, while the remaining 3,600 m² is being speculatively constructed for future clients.

Peter Jánoši, P3’s Head of Development, Slovakia, said: “P3’s long-‐term strategy in Slovakia is to expand away from Bratislava to other prime locations such as Žilina. There’s a shortage of modern warehouse space in these areas so we see great opportunities for development. At PointPark Žilina we have building permits in place that mean that we can deliver another 15,500 m² of warehouse space at this location within six months of signing an agreement with a client.”

The new warehousing and distribution facility, which will be completed in February 2014, is being developed to high specifications, with features including clear warehouse heights of 10 meters, floor loading capacity of five tonnes per square meter, sprinkler installations, cross docking and a high ratio of loading docks to warehousing space. PointPark Žilina is located in northwestern Slovakia, close to the Czech and Polish borders. It lies directly on the E50, one of Europe’s main East-West routes -10km from its junction with the E75, a primary route linking Northern and Southern Europe -so providing the logistics park with easy access to the whole of Slovakia and large parts of Central Europe. Both routes are subject to continuous upgrading programmes. The park was opened in 2011 and existing clients include DB Schenker, the transport and logistics division of Deutsche Bahn, and Albatros Logistics, a specialist in handling electronics and car parts.

Peter Jánoši concluded: “P3’s development teams can work with prospective clients to quickly tailor the space that’s being built to their particular needs, making this a very attractive option for companies searching for high-quality warehousing facilities or assembly space in this region.”

This new facility is one of a number of logistics centers recently built by the company in Slovakia. In September 2013 P3 completed a distribution hub on the grounds of Bratislava Airport that was purpose-built for DHL Express, while in 2012 the company completed two warehouse facilities totaling 38,000 m² at its PointPark Bratislava park located on the D2 highway north of the Slovak capital.
