OVG lets 24,400 m² in HumboldtHafenEins to PwC (NL/DE)

OVG Real Estate (OVG) has let some 24,000 m² of office space and 230 underground parking spaces in HumboldtHafenEins, a new project to be built in Berlin Mitte, to the international accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers Aktiengesellschaft (PwC).

Completion and occupancy of the office space is slated for 2015.

Construction is due to begin at the end of this year. The project will be erected in the immediate vicinity of Berlin's central railway station, between Kapelle-Ufer, Hugo-Preuss-Bruecke and Alexanderufer. Completion and occupancy of the office space is slated for 2015.

Coen van Oostrom, Founder and CEO of the European project developer OVG, explained this contract signing: "We are pleased that we can realize our first building in Berlin. We will build a very unusual office building that, along with the certification 'Gold' by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen (DGNB), will send a signal quite in the OVG tradition: it will be one of the most sustainable office buildings in Germany and surpass all the standards for office technology and sustainable architecture."

The architecture is characterized by a meander structure whereby the HumboldtHafenEins complex profits from three open courtyards, two of which are oriented toward the water. They provide an efficient, high quality and daylight-flooded working environment with an uncommon view. The third courtyard leads to the Ufer Promenade, offering generous space for restaurants and cafés.

KSP Jürgen Engel Architekten designed the building. They won the architects competition conducted last year by OVG together with the Berlin Municipal Development Administration and the administration of the district Mitte.

OVG will develop this building together with its partner Bischoff & Compagnons Property Networks GmbH (B&C). "Without the cooperation of Juergen Bischoff and his team, this lease would not have materialized," said Coen van Oostrom.

OVG was advised by BNP Paribas Real Estate and Noerr LLP Berlin.
