Ostsee Park celebrates its grand opening on December 13 (DE)

After a year under construction, the expansion of the Ostsee Park in Rostock will open on December 13, 2012. The 55,000 m² shopping center, managed by MEC METRO-ECE Centermanagement GmbH, has been extended by almost 3,000 m² in sales space.

METRO PROPERTIES was responsible for development, planning and construction management. 15 new retailers have moved to the new shopping mall. First and foremost, with chains such as Esprit, Gerry Weber, Tom Tailor, Street One, Herzog & Bräuer, emilio adani or Ernsting's Family, the fashion segment now offers a far greater selection than before.

The three existing tenants Rossmann, Lila Bäcker and Aaron Blumenparadies have moved into new section. With its expansion and improved mix of retailers, Ostsee Park has developed into a hybrid mall.

All available space rented out weeks ago
MEC METRO-ECE Centermanagement had no difficulties in finding new retailers for the new shop space. All available space was rented out weeks ago, and the first new stores have already opened. "We are well on track with all work.

The first construction stage could be completed four weeks earlier than scheduled, as could the second. As a result our wish to celebrate the official opening before Christmas has been fulfilled", Christian Schröder, COO of MEC, is pleased to say.

New directions and maritime shapes
Maritime shapes and symbols characterize the new look of the building. This includes a curvy outline reminiscent of waves, and green areas evoking the impression of dunes. From now on, Ostsee Park rolls nicely, as Real's former entrance area has been extended with a mall, which, together with the existing mall, allows a neat retail circuit.

"The new facade is like an oversized shop window and allows the colorful life inside the mall and the majority of the new stores to be seen straight away from quite distance", the Center Manager, Jens Fischer, is happy to say. The investment for the expansion was made by METRO PROPERTIES. "For us the investment and integration of new specialist retailers and shops in this center is a good example for the continuous development of our properties", explains Dr. Andreas Link, Director Germany of METRO PROPERTIES.
