Opening of 43,000 m

After an extensive renovation, the Galeries Saint-Lambert, one of the biggest shopping centers in Wallonia, was opened last Thursday. Previously, the Grand Bazar was situated in the building. The complex now has a volume of 43,000 m², 35,000 m² of which is retail space. Tenants of the renewed complex are Innovation, Media Markt, Fnac, Esprit and many other well known retail chains.

In Februari 2002, the developers Immobel and ING Real Estate started the redevelopment of the shopping center. Together, the two parties invested approximately € 75 million. The complex consists of two parts, with four floors each, seperated by a huge hall. The hall’s glass roof allows daylight on each floor.

The restored facade of the former Grand Bazar is still visible from the Saint-Lambert square. On the back side the complex has a glass rotunda, giving sight on a pedestrian only square. Apart from the 35,000 m² retail space, the complex has 11,000 m² of storage and office space and eight lofts. The lofts have a surface of 130 to 270 m² and are sold for € 1,000 per m².
