Office block being built by Sponda in Lautatarhankatu in Helsinki reaches full height (FI)

The office block being built by real estate investment company Sponda Plc in Kalasatama, Helsinki has reached its full height. The topping out ceremony for the building at Lautatarhankatu 2 was held at the site on Thursday 21 August 2008.

The five-story office block is being built on the plot of land where the old state-owned margarine factory is located. The old factory building, built in 1924 originally for margarine production by the prison administration, is being preserved alongside the modern office building.

The office building, with a leasable floor space of roughly 9,200 m², is fully leased. Tradeka Oy will move its head office to the new premises in Lautatarhankatu Street, and the other main tenant will be TrygVesta Forsikring A/S, which operates in Finland under the name Nordea General Insurance. Construction, which began in August 2007, has progressed according to plan and the building will be completed on schedule in December 2008.

Particular attention has been paid to the acoustics in the premises and to noise suppression solutions, which have been designed in cooperation with the tenants.

The office building in Lautatarhankatu is one more element in the modern work and residential area by the sea that is going up in the Kalasatama district.

Construction of Kalasatama in the Helsinki Business district, close to the heart of the city, is one of the largest transformation processes underway in the city, in which the old industrial and harbour area is being converted into a center for business premises offering jobs for 10,000 people. The services offered by the city center, the excellent transport connections and the proximity of Kalasatama metro station add to the attraction of the area.
