Newsec advisor to O2 in 72 MW wind farm transaction with Allianz (FI)

Newsec has been the exclusive financial advisor to O2 in the divestment of the Maevaara wind farm to German insurance company Allianz. The commissioning of the wind farm is scheduled for 2015. O2 and Allianz have signed an agreement with Google for the purchase of the entire output of the farm during the coming ten years to supply the company’s data center in Finland.

Newsec has been the exclusive financial advisor to the leading wind farm developer O2 in the divestment of the Maevaara wind farm, located in border between the Pajala and Övertorneå municipalities in Sweden, to German insurance company Allianz. Commissioning of the wind farm, comprising 24 turbines and 72 MW, is scheduled for 2015. O2 will construct and also manage commercial and technical operation of the wind farm.

“We experience a strong interest from international institutional capital for Swedish wind power as an alternative investment. This transaction is unique for the Swedish market in terms of type of investor and the power purchase agreement signed with Google”, says Newsec’s Omid Ashrafi, Head of Infrastructure and Renewable Energy at Newsec.

During the year, Newsec has concluded four sales processes in wind power, thus consolidating its leading position as transaction advisor in infrastructure and renewable energy.
