New tenant for historic office building De Rode Olifant (NL)

The iconic office building De Rode Olifant (The Red Elephant) situated in The Hague at the end of the Utrechtsebaan A12 and looking out on the Malieveld, will after a long period of vacancy finally welcome new residents. Real estate company NSI signed a lease contract with Spaces, a provider that offers an innovative and inspiring office concept at top locations.

Spaces will be the first user of the over 10,000 m² of characteristic office space since law firm De Brauw Blackstone left the building in 2009. It is an important milestone for De Rode Olifant but also for the listed real estate company NSI, that through its merger with Vastned O/I became the new owner of De Rode Olifant earlier this year.

NSI's CEO Johan Buijs: "Spaces is going to be the professional, innovative user of perhaps the most prominent office building in The Hague. This shows that NSI, through innovation and renovation of existing properties is able to be successful, also in the current market conditions. As a result of the merger we are able to leverage our combined expertise and financial strength to invest in our properties with increased focus."

Martijn Roordink, Managing Director of Spaces, currently operating at top locations in Amsterdam (Herengracht and Zuidas) is looking forward to extend its services to The Hague: "This fabulous location and the striking historic appeal of the building make it a perfect fit for Spaces. Spaces offers modern professionals and entrepreneurs inspiration and flexibility in a dynamic environment.

"NSI fully understands our wishes. As a result we will at the end of 2012, following a profound renovation, be able to start using a wonderful new Spaces location with excellent facilities."
