New shopping magnet opens in Neumünster, northern Germany (DE)

Following a construction period of about 19 months, Neumünster's new city-center attraction will celebrate its opening on Thursday (October 15, 2015).

 

The new Holsten-Galerie shopping center will will comprise approx. 90 specialty stores, service providers, and a new food court accommodating various dining options. With a sales area of around 22,800 m² on two levels, the mixed use site also houses approximately 1,400 m² of office space and about 950 parking spaces.

 

The Otto family owned ECE Group have invested approximately €145 mln into the center. The longterm management of Holsten-Galerie lies in the hands of ECE which has also developed and planned the project. A total of approx. 700 jobs will be created by Holsten-Galerie. Neumünster is located around 70 km north of Hamburg in the federal state of Schleswig-Holstein and has a population of around 80,000 inhabitants. The catchment area of the center comprises almost 200,000 inhabitants.

 

Dr. Olaf Tauras, Lord Mayor of Neumünster, said: “Holsten-Galerie is a great benefit for Neumünster and will increase the attractiveness of the city center. Hundreds of jobs will be created which will 2 strengthen the region's labor market. It was a big and courageous decision to build Holsten-Galerie. But it was the right decision.”

 

Alexander Otto, CEO of ECE, added: “As its new living-room in the heart of the city center, Holsten-Galerie will bring new, fascinating shopping experiences to Neumünster. The entire city will sustainably benefit from its new magnetism.”

 

Holsten-Galerie's diverse merchandise mix was tailored to its location. It includes a range fashion retailers and dining options, approximately two thirds of the which make their debut in Neumünster. Such brands include fashion retailers such as TK Maxx, Hallhuber, Vero Moda, Jack&Jones, Only, Tom Tailor, Tally Weijl, Kult, Camp David, Engbers, Liberty and Bonita, the cosmetics chain Rituals, the Dutch lifestyle concept Xenos, the Danish design shop Tiger, and a BR toy store.

 

Furthermore, Holsten-Galerie comprises a Media Markt, a Sky supermarket, H&M, a dm drugstore, an Intersport store, a Hugendubel book store, and a Douglas perfumery. A further attraction is the state-of-the-art food court – a large restaurant area with diverse culinary offers and a common seating area with more than 350 seats.
