FISCHAPARK in Wiener Neustadt has revealed a bold new look and impressive facilities following a €100 mln refurbishment and expansion project.

The operator, SES Spar European Shopping Centres, has invested significantly at this traditionally successful trading location in southern lower Austria over the past three years. The project expanded the existing shopping centre by 21,000 m² in two stages while remaining open for business. The existing centre was also completely revitalised.

The new FISCHAPARK now hosts 120 stores with a mix of top international brands and regional providers in the fields of fashion, beauty, art, sports, services, and catering on 42,800 m² of GLA. The centre is anchored by a brand new Interspar hypermarket, a super modern Hervis Sports, and a MediaMarkt, as well as large-area regional premier appearances by Peek & Cloppenburg and Zara. H&M, Hallhuber, Promod, Liebeskind, Bestseller group and the Varner Group are also on board.

Customers have access to 1,800 free parking spaces along with an expanded bicycle network with more than 130 covered parking spaces, dedicated bike paths, and secured intersections. Those without bikes can also rent one at the nextbike station right next to FISCHAPARK. During construction, great emphasis was placed on on optimal entrances and exits, generous parking facilities, and clear connections to the mall.

Marcus Wild, SES Spar European Shopping Centres, said: “The expanded FISCHAPARK marks the emergence of a completely new hotspot for Lower Austria: a generous marketplace with a ring mall that invites you to stroll and shop, with indulgent gastronomy and a great atmosphere. Despite its size, the distances customers have to walk nevertheless remain short. The shops are incredibly easy and quick to reach from the parking levels, which boast a sophisticated traffic solution and clear, well-lit parking spaces.”

The new FISCHAPARK’s contemporary architecture sets the tone for the appearance of its home quarter in Wiener Neustadt. The winner of the architectural competition was the architectural firm Haskoll from London. Thereafter, the competition project was completely revised under the aegis of SES and Architektur Consult ZT GmbH. In addition to the shopping mall’s range, FISCHAPARK also offers contemporary art in the form of a large mural. Designed by artist Helmut Swoboda, the work, designed to resemble a color screen print, depicts the nearby Schneeberg. There are also several printed metal and glass-effect walls by artist Peter Koglerin the centre, such as in the corridor to the customer rest rooms. From SES’s perspective, shopping centres are today - more than ever – meeting places and thus also place for art and culture. They should inspire customers during their visits.
