New Jantar shopping center extension in Slupsk opens (PL)

The first part of the extended Jantar shopping center in Slupsk has opened. With an additional 7,000 m² retail space in the mall, Jantar becomes the leading fashion destination in the region. The fully extended, 46,000-m² Jantar shopping center will open in spring 2012.

Initially opened in 2008, Jantar comprised 22,500 m² of prime international and polish tenants including Real hypermarket, H&M, KappAhl, Deichmann, Empik, Smyk and RTV Euro AGD. During the last three years, Jantar shopping center recorded on average a 10% yearly sales increase.

Together with its first extension, Jantar now offers 30,000 m² or retail space with the largest fashion destination in the region, including ZARA, Stradivarius, Bershka, Pull & Bear, New Yorker, Tally Weijl, Sephora, Diverse, Reporter, Ecco, Rylko, Pretty Girl, Glitter, Marilyn, Textilmarket, Scarabeusz, Piastowski shop and Carte d'Or.

The Jantar shopping center will soon be the third-largest regionally dominant retail scheme in northern Poland. The second extension will house the largest entertainment destination in the region with the first Multikino multiplex cinema, MK Bowling and a worldwide cuisine food court.

EPISO L.P., a fund co-advised by AEW Europe and Tristan Capital Partners, completed the purchase of the Jantar Shopping Center in December 2010 and entrusted Mayland Real Estate as developer and property manager of the extended scheme.

Daniel Harris, Managing Director Investments at Tristan Capital Partners, commented "The Jantar opportunity allowed us to purchase a core retail asset with an excellent trading history enhanced with the ability for us to fund a largely pre-let extension which, at completion, will result in the scheme becoming regionally dominant."
