According to reports on the Turkish press, Mustafa Durak, State Airports Administration (DHMI) Manager of Diyarbakir Airport, has announced that Diyarbakir's new airport, with a daily capacity of 10,000 passengers and 100 flights, is expected to be completed by the end of 2014.
Built in 1952, Diyarbakır Airport has been serving as a military-civilian airport with limited capacity. The new Diyarbakır airport will be built on an area of 90,000 m² in order to meet the ever-increasing passenger demand.
Durak mentioned that after the completion of the new terminal with a yearly capacity of 5 million passengers, Diyarbakir will be able to serve international flights.
