Neptune, a joint venture between Neinver and Nuveen Real Estate, has obtained the final irrevocable permit for the development of Amsterdam The Style Outlets in the Netherlands. The outlet centre is scheduled to open in autumn 2020, and construction works are now underway. The outlet centre will feature 115 stores set across 19,000m² GLA with premium Dutch and international brands and a high-end environment inspired by traditional Dutch architecture. It will be strategically located in the Randstad, one of the wealthiest and most densely populated regions of Europe, 10 minutes away from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport and with easy access to the Dutch capital and Haarlem. The opening of the centre will create around 600 direct jobs onsite.
Amsterdam The Style Outlets is being developed in accordance with high sustainability standards, and the centre is in the process of earning BREEAM certification. The scheme will become Neptune’s first outlet centre in the Netherlands and the 14th European asset in the JV portfolio.
Carlos Gonzalez, Managing Director of Neinver, commented: “The granting of the final permit reaffirms the strong positives of this unique project. Amsterdam The Style Outlets will become the first outlet centre in the Randstad, the economic heart of the Netherlands. This high-end outlet scheme will further energise this growing destination, strengthening the tourism appeal of the area and complementing the local offer”.
Charlotte Ashworth, Fund Manager, Neptune, Nuveen Real Estate, said: “We are pleased to get the development underway which will create a highly-sustainable, quality retail destination in an excellent location. We believe Amsterdam The Style Outlets is a great addition to Neptune and strengthens our portfolio across Europe.”
