NCC to deliver €24.5m retirement home in Vasteras (SE)

NCC has unveiled plans to build a retirement home with 90 apartments and common areas at Oster Malarstrand in Vasteras, Sweden. The order is worth €24.5m (SEK 260m). Preparatory civil engineering work for the turnkey project has already commenced. The scheme is expected to be completed in spring 2021.

The building will have seven stories. The ground floor will include a café, office and kitchen. The top floor will house a rooftop terrace, conservatory, relaxation area, sauna and fan room. The basement contains storage space and changing rooms for staff along with services areas and storage space for recycling. The entire project will be built to meet a Silver environmental rating from the Sweden Green Building Council.

“This project has a particular focus on technology. For example, all residents will be provided with toilet seats and sinks of variable height and a fall detection system will be installed that can detect if a resident has fallen in his or her room. This will also contribute to a good work environment for personnel,” said Anders Lindkvist, Business Manager of NCC Building Sweden.

“We recently completed the New Lögaräng swim centre and also built four preschools together with the City of Vasteras, two projects that are now continuing with a new outdoor pool and another preschool. We are delighted that the collaboration is expanding to also include a retirement home and that NCC has been awarded this contract to continue to build and develop Vasteras,” said Henrik Landelius, Business Area Manager of NCC Building Sweden.
