NCC to construct New Skövde Arena (SE)

NCC Construction has been commissioned to construct the first part of the New Skövde Arena, a multi-activity recreational and leisure complex in Skövde, Sweden. The client is Skövde Municipality and the order is worth SEK 415 million (approx. €41 mln). The project will be implemented on a partnering basis and construction is scheduled to commence in August 2007.

The project will comprise an upgrade and expansion of an existing swimming and sports facility.

In the new complex, a variety of activities will be concentrated under the same roof. The new complex will include a state-of-the-art adventure swimming facility, a new swimming pool, a new relax center, a new gym and a large bowling alley.

Expansion of the swimming and leisure facility will constitute the first phase of the Skövde Arena project. Phases two and three also include a congress hall, hotel, parking building and homes.

Construction will commence in August 2007 and the new complex is expected to be completed in November 2009. The project will employ an average of up to 100 people.

The assignment will be registered among orders during the second quarter of 2007.

NCC Partnering entails that all of the parties to a construction project openly report their costs and have joint incentives to reduce construction costs and thus share in the gain.
