NCC to build €40m school in Vasteras (SE)

NCC has entered into a partnership with the City of Vasteras to build a new school with an associated sports hall for 700 students aged 6–16 years. The property will also be prepared to accommodate an additional 450 students in the future. The school building will have a floor area of nearly 13,000m2 and the sports hall will be almost 3,000m2. The school will also feature a large schoolyard. The order value is c. €40m.

NCC has won the procurement and we are pleased to collaborate with them on the construction of the new school building in Fredriksdal. We have good past experience of conducting partnering projects with NCC from several major assignments in the city,” said Christer Gerhardsson, project manager at the property department of the City of Vasteras.

The school building will consist of two L-shaped buildings made of wood and brick. The building will harmonize with the existing architecture in the area in terms of colour, material, and design. A large geothermal heating and solar power system will be built to reduce energy costs when the school is in use, helping the school to meet the environmental requirements for a Miljöbyggnad Silver rating.

We have a longstanding and successful history of collaboration with the City of Vasteras when it comes to building schools. The new school in Fredriksdal will be our third ongoing school project alongside Dromfabriken and Carlforsska Gymnasiet. We can see that we can effectively leverage our resources and experience in these parallel school projects in Vasteras, and we look forward to delivering yet another new school to expectant and proud students,” said Niklas Sparw, Head of NCC Building Sweden.

The project will commence in the first quarter of 2024 and is scheduled for completion in autumn 2026.
