On 4th May the Ground Stone Event for Forum Mersin wil take place. Mr. Hüseyin Aksoy, Mayor of the City of Mersin, conducts the official start of this project. Forum Mersin is a retail-led mixed-use scheme of approximately 65,000 m. It has shops, restaurants and cinemas on three levels, as well as a food court and leisure accompanied by a three level parking with 2,000 spaces. The developer is Multi Turkmall. Owner is DIFA. Architects are T+T Design, Gouda, The Netherlands (masterplan), Chapman Taylor, Madrid, Spain and MM Project, Istanbul, Türkiye.
Mersin is located on the Mediterranean coast in Southern Türkiye. The site is strategically located between the inner city and the outer-inner city bypass road and is embedded in a high-density residential neighbourhood with a strong purchasing power. The total catchment area covers a population of 1,8 million people. Mersin is a city with a fast economical growth providing perfect opportunities, with a retail market shifting from the traditional retailers to the modern retail sector.
The completion of the project is foreseen by the end of 2007. DIFA fully funds the development of the scheme, whereas Multi Turkmall will manage the development process. Multi Mall Management will take care of the management and commercialisation of the centre after completion, based on Multis vast experience in managing centres in countries like Portugal, Spain and the Czech Republic.
Multi Asset Management will be responsible for the strategic value enhancement of the scheme in close cooperation with DIFA.
Economic dynamism in the Region
Managing Director of Multi Turkmall, Levent Eyüboğlu, has stated that Forum Mersin will provide the region with new economic dynamism and will fill in the gap for the lack of modern shopping in Mersin.
Multi Turkmall has developed a completely different concept of shopping and entertainment than the currently existing concepts in Türkiye said Hans Otto Nagel, Chairman of Multi Turkmall.
