Multi signs cablecar lease agreement for Forum Ústí nad Labem (CZ)

Multi Development Czech Republic and the city of Ústí nad labem have signed the lease for the lower station of the cablecar in Multi's forum shopping center in the heart of Ústí. The cable will soon connect downtown Ústí nad Labem with Chateau Vetruše on the opposite hill. The cable will have a length of 300 meters and bring visitors in 2.45 minutes to the top of the hill. From this point there is a magnificent view over the city of Ústí, the River Labe and its surroundings.

Chateau Vetruše was built in the 19th century. At that time, known as Ferdinandova Výšina, it was already a popular weekend destination. After the war it became dilapidated and was closed in the sixties. In 2000 a fire badly damaged the tower. In 2005 the city completely renovated the chateau and its scenic terraces. The cablecar will be integrated into the city's public transport system carrying 350 persons/hour and will operate between 9 a.m. and 10 p.m. Opening is scheduled for spring 2010.

Forum Ústí nad Labem is situated in the centre of the town in the area of the formerly run down market-hall close to the historic church, Nanebevzetí pany Marie. The project seeks to restore and complete the original urban pattern of the town damaged by the war and following years, and revitalize the square in front of the church. The concept of the project was inspired by its position inside medieval town walls with town gates. In line with the traditions of the town area, Forum Ústí nad Labem will create a lively, pulsing environment serving all of the people in the town centre, surrounded not only by its shops, but also by its cafes and outside areas.

Shopping and leisure centrer Forum Ústí nad Labem will open in the autumn of this year, offering more than 100 shops, multiplex cinemas, restaurants and coffeshops on a total area of 27,000 m². It brings a major new retail offer to Ústí and strengthens it's position as the key regional shopping destination. New brands such as H&M,Lindex, Douglas, Promod, Celio or Pimkie will be present in the ústecký region. Billa supermarket will be the food anchor. Popular brands such as Euronics, Vero Moda, Tom Tailor, A3 sport, Humanic, DM drugstore and many others will add to the wide offer. Palace Cinamas will open a Multiplex cinema, which will serve the entire region. The newly restored square around the old church will offer restaurants and cafes with open air seating in the new cultivated and friendly environment around the church.

There will be 640 new parking places. The project's position, right in the heart of town, just a few steps to the train and bus stations, guarantees direct accessibility for customers from both the town and its region.
