Espaço Guimarães, the shopping center which has been developed jointly by Multi Development and Bouygues Imobiliária, opened its doors to the public at 9pm on November 3, 2009. It is located in the historic city of Guimarães in the north of Portugal and will be managed by Multi Mall Management.

Total investment in Espaço Guimarães has been 140 million and it has led to the creation of 2,000 jobs directly and 3,000 indirectly. It will become an attraction for the people in the area and will give them the opportunity to choose from a much wider retail offer.
Espaço Guimarães has a GLA of 48,000 m². There is a 41,000-m² shopping center and a 7,000-m² retail park with well-known local and international brands, a Jumbo supermarket of 16,000 m² and free parking for 1,960 cars.
Lettings at Espaço Guimarães went according to plan and it is 92% let. The remaining shops are all under offer.
The center will have the first New Yorker unit in the North of Portugal and the first shops of Zara and H&M in Guimarães. Other anchor units include the Jumbo supermarket (Auchan Group), the Inditex Group (Zara, Pull & Bear, Berska, Stradivarius, Oysho and Máximo Dutti), the Cortefiel Group (Cortefiel, Women Secret and Springfield), Sonae Retail (Modalfa, Sportzone, Loop, Book It and Worten Mobile), Sephora, Perfumes & Compª, Desigual, Blanco and Cinemas Castello Lopes who are also opening in the center.
An especially positive note is that 30 local shopkeepers have taken shops to trade either in their own names or as franchisees. About 134,500 people live in the city and its suburbs while the center's catchment area has a total of 357,000 people living within 30 minutes drive time.
State-of-the-art shopping center
Espaço Guimarães, was designed by architects Broadway Malyan. It has an original design and brings together a shopping center with a retail park that complement each other and give visitors a much larger and wider choice.
Espaço Guimarães will be managed by Multi Mall Management, the subsidiary of Multi Corporation that manages 14 shopping centers and retail parks in Portugal.
