Forum Sintra has 55,000 m² of attractive shopping area.

Representing a total investment of €170 million, Forum Sintra has led to the creation of 2,500 new jobs directly and 800 indirectly. The visibly striking new center is already attracting customers from across the area and its neighboring councils.

Located at the junction of the IC 19 and the A16 highways, Forum Sintra is owned by Multi Investment. Pingo Doce owns its own store area. The development is the result of expansion and remodeling of the existing Feira Nova building. Its excellent location is easy to get to and about 621,000 people live within its catchment area of 20 minutes drive time.

Forum Sintra has 55,000 m² of attractive shopping area with 182 shops on three floors including the Pingo Doce supermarket, a food court with 20 restaurants and a seven-screen Castello Lopes cinema. It has basement parking for 2,520 cars and 130 outside.

The opening was hosted by Benno van Veggel, Chairman of Multi Development Southern Europe who in his introductory remarks said: "Our conviction is that the high standards of Forum Sintra's tenant mix, architecture and design make this a world leading project."

Van Veggel was followed by Francisco Soares dos Santos of Pingo Doce, Dr. Fernando Seara - The Mayor of Sintra, Dr. Fernando Serrasqueiro - Secretary of State for Commerce, Sevices and Consumer Protection and attended by the Governor of the District of Lisbon - Dr. António Galamba. The project was blessed by Sr. Prior Padre Carlos Gonçalves.

Forum Sintra has a high quality tenant mix; its anchor stores are Pingo Doce, Primark, Zara, H&M, Worten, Sportzone, C&A, New Yorker and Modalfa. About 20 of the shops belong to local shopkeepers trading either under their own names or as franchisees of other brands.

Multi Mall Management, the award-winning company responsible for the management of centers developed by Multi Development, is also managing Forum Sintra. MMM Portugal now manages 13 shopping centers and one office park: Forum Aveiro, Armazéns do Chiado, Forum Algarve, Parque Mondego, Almada Forum, Forum Montijo, Forum Madeira, Forum Viseu, Forum Coimbra, Espaço Guimarães, Braga Retail Center, Forum Sintra and Arquiparque II.

Architecture and design
The architects of Forum Sintra are ARX and Chapman Taylor. The basic concept for the project was by T+T Design, Multi's in-house architectural firm, and was later developed by ARX. The design of Forum Sintra was a complex task that involved the rebuilding of the pre-existing shopping center attached to the Feira Nova supermarket, which adjoined the IC-19 highway in Sintra. The shop and cinema area was demolished to give rise to another building, while the supermarket, which stayed open, was converted into a Pingo Doce. Proximity to the IC-19 provides views of the Sintra hills with the Pena Palace and its relics of King D. Fernando II. The new design reflects these factors, yet is highly contemporary and distinctive in terms of time and space.
